Recruitment

Recruitment is the process of hiring workers

There are two types of recruitment:

  1. Internal - takes place when the HR department gives out an internal circular in order to hire workers from within the firm
  2. External - when recruitment advertisement is given in newspapers or in other advertising media to hire workers externally

Stages of recruitment

  1. Identifying the number of workers required
  2. Job analysis[highlighting the duties and responsibilities to be assigned to new workers]
  3. Job description[duties and responsibilities of the job] and job specification[personal attributes required of new workers] are prepared
  4. Advertisements placed
  5. Collecting job applications
  6. Conducting interviews
  7. Sending letters to selected candidates
